Classmates - Wesley "Toby" Tyler

The day after graduating from Davis High I moved to Hutchinson, Kansas to live with my mother. Eight months later I departed on a mission for the LDS church to the Indiana, Indianapolis mission. After my mission I stayed in Kansas for six months then headed to Provo to attend BYU. Thanks to a broken down car I was unable to attend the Y. I stayed in Salt Lake City to work.

While working in Salt Lake City I met Paula Nielson form Brigham City, UT. After a whirlwind courtship we were married and moved to Logan so I could attend Utah State University. I became a professional student there. It took me seven years, working full time to support my family to get my bachelor degree in business with an emphasis on Personnel and Industrial Relations. My minor is economics. I also spent a lot of time studying history, geography and political science. My big regret is that I never finished my Master program, stopping 12 credits shy of graduation. While living in Logan our son Jeremy was born. He ended up being our only child.

After graduation I took an internship with the Department of the Army. We moved to Hooks, Texas for eight months of schooling and then to Chambersburg, PA to complete the two year internship. Upon completion of the internship I was offered a job there so we stayed an additional 4 years. Due to the increasing layoffs and base closures we decided it was time to take control of our lives and move back West. I moved my family back to Kaysville, living with Bob Baldwin and his family. I continued to work in PA while my wife looked for work in Utah. Once she found a job I resigned and moved back as well. Bob was good enough to put up with my family and me living with them for over a year and a half. If it were not for their kindness we would not have been able to move back to Utah and change careers.

I found a job with a medical software company implementing a Materials Management package. I later moved into support and then project management. I have worked for several companies doing the same type of work. I now work for Omnicell, based out of Mountain View, California, doing project management for an automated supply chain and pharmacy hardware/software system. I travel each week throughout the West to different healthcare facilities overseeing the implementation of our products.

We have lived in Roy, UT for the last 15 years. My son is now grown, married, working at Home Depot and attending Weber State University. He has plans to attend law school once he graduates next year. He was the sports editor for Weber State's paper for a year and a half and is currently covering high school sports for the Ogden Standard Examiner on a contract basis. My lovely wife has put up with me for 26 years and counting. What a saint she is!! Paula has worked for Inwest Title Company for the last 12 years.

As if traveling every week for my career is not enough we manage to travel for enjoyment as well. I have been to all 50 states and 14 countries. We also enjoy Broadway shows and travel to different cities to see them.

Our other hobbies include ATV riding, white water rafting, camping and hiking. These activities are enjoyed by my family which allows us to spend quality time together.
