Hello Everyone!
It's hard to believe that it has been 30 years since graduation! I don't feel that old, and hope that I never do. Here is just a quick overview of the past 30 years and what I have been doing with my life.
I graduated from the University of Utah having majored in Physical Education and a English/Reading minor. I got my first teaching job at North Layton High where I taught and coached for 3 years. I then transferred to Layton High School and taught English, health, and creative writing. I also coached, at one time or another, basketball, tennis, volleyball and track & field. Nine years later I received my master's degree in school counseling and became a guidance counselor, being able to remain at Layton High. I retired from coaching in 2000 and since then I have gone on to get my Administrative certificate from Utah State University. Beginning this fall I will have been at Layton High for 21 years. I have really enjoyed working at the high school level and I love being a guidance counselor.
I still live in Farmington. I bought my parent's home and my mother is living with me. I have enjoyed traveling, reading, anything outdoors, and walking with my golden retriever, Charlie. I am always busy working with the youth, whether at school or at church.
My fondest memories of high school have to be all the great opportunities I
had in athletics. I relive the glory days of 5 State championships. Having
been a coach and working hard to get a state championship I know how
difficult they are to come by. I am grateful for all of my teammates and the
great run we had our senior year when we went undefeated in volleyball,
basketball, and track. I really believe that our class knew what it meant to
have school spirit. We cheered and celebrated when we won and we were
devastated when we lost.... which wasn't often. It was great being a Davis
Dart and having the inspired teachers and coaches that I had. I am also
appreciative of great friends who were great examples to me and made me a
better person. I would love to hear from some long lost friends. My email is
sharlyw8@aol.com.
Take care and God Bless.
