Classmates - LeGrand Bitter

After graduating from Davis High, I served a mission in the Philippines, Manila mission. That experience changed my life. I learned how to forget myself, how to study and work, and to love people who are among the poorest in the world. I learned how very fortunate I am to live in the USA, to have grown up in Kaysville with such great people and friends, and to have attended Davis High School.

After returning home, I found a job as a forklift driver and thought that I would see if any college would accept me. I attended LDS Business College for a short time and found that I could compete and succeed in college. I transferred to the University of Utah, and later to BYU. I graduated from BYU in Accounting in 1985. Subsequently, I received an MBA from the University of Phoenix in 1989.

In 1981, married Donita Townley from Clearfield. This was, I believe, the greatest thing that has happened in my life. We have lived in Layton, Provo and Clearfield. In 1993, we built a home in Syracuse and have lived in Syracuse since that time. We have eight children: Ryan 24, who served a mission in the Philippines Bacolod mission and is attending Weber pursuing pre-dental, Charise 21, recently married and graduating in August from Weber as an Registered Nurse, Alisha 19, attending Snow College, Aubrey 16, 11th grade attending Clearfield High, Brooklyn 14, 9th grade, Cambria 12, 7th grade, Bruce 11, 6th grade, and Breanne 6, 1st grade.

Since graduating from college, I have worked in government and in the private sector, beginning with the State Auditors Office, Wasatch Energy Systems, Real Property Management, Velocity Technology Systems, and Stevens Henager College. Currently, I am employed as the Executive Director of the Utah Association of Special Districts. In this capacity I serve as their lobbyist on all legislative issues, and provide training to management and boards of directors for 386 districts throughout the State of Utah.

My life revolves around my family, church and career. Our family loves spending time together. We enjoy gardening, and love volleyball, water skiing, camping, hiking, biking, barbeques and dutch oven, ping-pong, visiting, ... just being together.

The things that I remember about my Davis High experience include the fun and funny people that were there. The level of excellence achieved in sports, band, debate, drama, and in other areas during our time at Davis High School is, I believe, unmatched. It was a great season to be a Davis Dart!
