Kevin Pedersen, the oldest son of Harold and Sandra Pedersen, grew up in
Salt Lake City and attended Madison Elementary, where he was friends with
Connie Naylor. Kevin had three siblings, Cliff, Krissie, and Karma. When
Kevin was 10 years, his mother passed away. Within a year, his father
married Helen Schoenfeld and four children joined the family, Randy, Heidi,
Kim, and Sonja. A few years later Rachel joined their yours-mine-and-ours
family. At the age of 16, Kevin was chosen as one of two euphonium players
in the 200 member American Youth Symphonic Band and Chorus. These young
musicians toured Europe during July-Aug 1974, performing in many of the
great European cities.
Following graduation, Kevin attended the University of Utah for two years
prior to serving a mission for the LDS Church to Indonesia and the
Philippines. Two years later he married Ellen Seiler. They became the
parents of five great children, Preston Scott, Megan, Pace, Parker, and
Malory. During their twelve year marriage Kevin worked for Unisys, ARUP,
and the University Hospital. In September of 1994 Kevin was involved in
a motorcycle crash which broke his back and right hand. In December of
that year Kevin and Ellen divorced. Ellen and their children now live in
Tropic, near Bryce Canyon.
Kevin worked for various companies during the next eight years. In May of
2002 Kevin was working for the U. of U. Music Dept. when he met Laurel Hunt,
a returning student, majoring in music. After much persuasion, she convinced
him she was the girl of his dreams. (It only took her about 15 minutes to
fall hopelessly in love with him.) On the 16th of December, 2002, Kevin
asked her to marry him, and they were married on the 18th. They currently
live in Bountiful where Kevin is employed by Bountiful City Parks and
Recreation and Laurel works for the Davis County South Branch Library.
Laurel brought a collection of children into Kevin’s life, Paul, Melissa,
Adrianne, Lee, Lieschen, Preston Hyrum, and Isaac. They have five married
children and four grand-children. They are currently riding off into the
sunset together.
