Classmates - Julie Olson

Great to get the invitation to our 30 year class reunion. Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend, I will be out of town for work. Here is a synopsis of what is going on with me.

Not much has changed since our twenty year class reunion (you can read that to find out about my post high school education). Jay (my husband of 23 years, Jay Flenniken) and I are still married (how does he put up with me?).

Both of our children graduated from Davis High School. Jessie (’02) is at Weber State University working on a dual major in elementary education and early childhood. She works for the Davis School District Head Start program. Jed (’06) is planning to attend college in the fall, though his career plans are up in the air. I’m struggling with our emptying nest.

I still work for the Utah Department of Health. I am the managed care director for the Medicaid program, but still oversee children’s Medicaid program - so more responsibility and more grey hair. I am proud that I was accepted to and recently completed a ten month program- the Great Basin Public Health Leadership Institute. Jay is still with the Department of Human Services and counting the time (just under two and a half years) until he can retire and pursue his photography full time. We are still in the same house we built, going on 20 years now, in Kaysville.

Sorry I won’t be there - I will look for pictures and email anything- but I’m not hopeful. Perhaps I will be able to find a recent family picture to send along (my kids are soooo good looking). Hope you all have a great time when you get together.
