Classmates - Jennifer Twitchell Ritter

Hi everyone,

Wow! Has it already been 30 years??? I don't even feel 30 years old! A lot has happened since high school and the last reunion I attended, so I shall try to catch you up...

As you can see from the photo, I'm a newlywed. Bob and I got married July 7th, 2006 up in Hayden Lake, Idaho. Bob is in pharmaceutical (did I spell that right?) sales and I'm still an engineer. I work for Hewlett Packard in Boise, Idaho, writing computer queries to access databases for failure information. It's a far cry from my degree in mechanical engineering, but I enjoy it and can work from home! I ran into Curtis Laser here at HP and it's been fun seeing an old schoolmate. Sorry Curtis, didn't mean to imply you were old... : ) I don't plan on getting old until I'm about 95. Until then, look out, I will not act, dress, or be my age!

I have had a lot of fun since HS. Raised my children - Hilary and Tyler, mostly on my own. Tyler is a bartender in Hawaii and is studying art. Hilary is a mom now, and that makes me a grandma - but not your conventional gray haired, big bosomed, cookie making version! Picture a more athletic, outgoing, fun type...who's not afraid to skydive, but hates thunderstorms, lightning, and spiders.

I've worked at a variety of companies in areas as diverse as Cruise missles, submarines, diabetic monitoring, aoritic stents, semiconductor processing, call centers, laser jet printers, etc. However, I've had fewer husbands than jobs...which is a good thing. Now that you're all wondering, just how many husbands has she had...well, Bob is number three. Three husbands in thirty years, not bad... But third time's a charm, right! Bob is a sweetheart and even better, he bikes with me! We just bought a new house and are busy putting the finishing touches on it. Wylie, our dog, loves the yard and the animals that come with it.

I've traveled mostly on business trips, preferring to stay at home and be a biking maniac! I've ridden my road bike on numerous charity rides, averaging 150 miles a week. I have a mountain bike, but I'm not as good at riding it as the road bike. However, I've had some pretty spectacular crashes. Last year, my dog tripped me up and I broke my zygomatic (sp?) arch. That would be the bone in your face, under your eye. It's made my right cheekbone look quite striking. I may have to crash this year on my left side so that they will match...This year I splurged and got a super light Scott bike. It weighs less than my laptop. That won't mean much to most of you, but to those of you who bike, you'll understand!

Haven't done anything news worthy. Just tried to be a good person throughout the years.

Things I've learned over the past thirty years:

1. Teenagers are nature's form of birth control.
2. Liver will never taste good.
3. Use sratchy toilet paper when the relatives come to visit. They won't stay as long.
4. Dogs are angels on earth. Cats are...well, you know...useless.
5. Blow dryers changed the moral values of the world...well, maybe not in the Middle East.
6. Most of the time, when someone asks what you think, they don't really want your opinion.
7. When you get older, hair grows in the strangest places!
8. Engineering is pretty darn boring...
9. Caviar isn't what it's cracked up to be.
10. A sense of humor is priceless.

Take care!
