After Graduating from High School I went to Southern Utah State College (Now SUU) for a year. Living in Cedar City at that time I learned how to enjoy some of life's simple pleasures. I spent a lot of time hiking in Zion National park and hiked and enjoyed the southern Utah area in general.
I served a full time mission for the LDS church in Argentina from 1977 - 1979. I married Donna Seegmiller from Henderson Nevada in November, 1980. We have a wonderful marriage with four awesome kids: Robert (age18), Phillip (age16), Bruce (age12), and Cheryl (age 8). You people with grandkids amaze me. I can tell that I have a lot more good experiences to look forward to! I graduated from Southern Utah State in 1983. Over the years I've spent a lot of time with boy scouts and Explorer/Venture scouts. Most recently I work with 10 year old webelos scouts. I've had a lot of fun times over the years with a lot of kids! Speaking of adventures, I've found that adventures are far more exciting and life threatening after they are over. For Example, I can say that while driving a motorcycle, I walked away from a head-on collision with a car. I've been lost in the desert; I've been caught alone in deep snow in back country with a 4 wheeler that was completely buried in snow. The Forest Gump quote does come to mind: "Stupid is as stupid does". Oh well, the stories always get better each time I tell them! However, my kids tell me that I'm boring. You can be the judge....
If you remember me as the short fat guy, I'm still as short and fat as ever. I might be a bit more sassy though. Nonetheless, my children are very understanding and supportive of my rotundness (I made up that word). For example, I was recently about to do some exercise push-ups and my son offered to help me up if I happen to get high-centered.
If you've ever wondered what you get when you cross a computer geek
with an accountant you need look no further. That's what I currently do
with most of my time. I work for Intuit and help accountants solve their
most complex journal entries and then help them fix their computer as
well. Over the years I've had the opportunity to teach at Salt Lake
Community College, work as a business analyst (I've even been instrumental
in helping a few businesses turnaround), and be a technical trainer.
In 2000 I graduated from the University of Phoenix with an MBA. Recently
I decided to buy an old house and fix it up (I hate exercise so I chose
something that makes me get away from a computer and do something physical).
Hopefully it'll earn some money also. I look forward to the class reunion
and meeting you all again. -Gary Neibaur, 2006
